The Seidel Diesel Group ‘Focuses on the Future’ During 7th Annual Meeting

Focus on the Future was a fitting theme for the Seidel Diesel Group’s 7th annual managers meeting, as the agenda centered on how the company can continue its trajectory of growth. Paul Thoms, President, kicked off the meeting by reviewing ‘where we have been, where we are now and most importantly, where we are going’. Continuous improvement was the mindset throughout the meeting, which was held at the Hyatt Lodge at McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook, Illinois.

The meeting held May 16-18 included SDG management from its Bolingbrook headquarters, Action Truck Parts, Diesel Service Center, and all fuel injection locations. The event allowed SDG to review business results, recognize significant achievements, share strategies for goal setting and provide a great opportunity for relationship building.

Subjects covered included growth potential and product knowledge, turbochargers and product expansion, inventory management, working effectively with customers, employee engagement, marketing smarter, as well as how to be more efficient with various internal processes. The group also conversed about ‘what sets us apart’ and had a productive and open roundtable discussion about best practices.

Thoms reviewed successes since last year’s meeting, where he led the rollout of Franklin Covey’s® The 4 Disciplines of Execution(4DX) formula–how to achieve ‘Wildly Important Goals’ (WIGS). Thoms noted “corporate sales as a group were up 15% since the last managers meeting, and 4DX was key to achieving our business-critical goals.” Everyone in attendance was able to see how this strategy has paid off, and how they will continue to incorporate 4DX into their goal setting.
