Congrats to Bill Bahl on his Retirement!

Bill Bahl

Bill’s impressive career in the automotive industry began when he attended Denver Automotive Diesel College, alongside our own Paul Thoms, in the early 1980s. His hard work and perfect attendance earned him a position with Bosch Broadview remanufacturing mechanical diesel and gas pumps for Mercedes Benz. Bill moved to the Bosch ASV service department next, working with various DSDs, and later worked in Bosch’s UO department. There, he was part of a team experimenting on the first Cummins Auto application 5.9L VE distributor pumps, and received extensive training under Dave Boley and Tony Vimmer.

Following his time with Bosch, Bill worked for various CDs, including Southeast Power Orlando and Everglades of Fort Lauderdale, while MAN was being introduced into the United States market. However, the 8, 10, and 12-cylinder Marinized Engines had major operational issues, leading to the closing of business in the US. To combat this issue, Bill moved to open Clean Air Fuel in March of 1992 with the primary focus of servicing MAN dealers and perfecting the Bosch fuel systems used on MAN marine engines. This led to developing better injectors used on MAN, which forced BOSCH to eliminate the two-angle sealing to become compatible with MAN injectors.

In 2015, after the loss of his father, who was his business partner, and a personal injury, Bill made the decision to sell Clean Air Fuel to the Seidel Diesel Group, evolving the business to International Fuel Injection as we know it today. Following the sale, Bill continued to be an invaluable resource to our organization through product and technical support training of the SDg team through January of 2024.

Bill grew up in Chicago, but the sunshine and business opportunities brought him to Florida. When Bill isn’t at work, his hobbies include growing various fruit trees, the restorations of classic hotrod cars, saltwater fishing, boating, and spending time at the beach. Bill’s best catch so far was a White Marlin, which is unique to South America, and unusual to find in Florida. His favorite car restoration was of a 1929 Pontiac Cabriolet.

Bill’s words of wisdom that he’d like to leave us with are “Hard work = Success”, and he says he always has an open ear for any technical questions we may have.

Bill, SDg applauds you for all of your accomplishments, and thanks you for you all you’ve done for our Team! Best of luck with your next adventures in life, and may health and happiness follow you in all!
